ProXima 3 - Red Dwarf Star

It's probably time to give a quick tease of one of my own personal Amiga AGA projects.

"ProXima 3 - Red Dwarf Star" is a Vertical scrolling Shoot Em Up.

The environment is partly destructible as well as the bigger enemies, each enemy has a flash/hit state.

Some Tech specs:
- 3 layer parallax
- 6 levels (all choosable except the final level)
- One player (at the moment)
- 16 colour foreground/enemies, 4 colours for each parallax and 16 colours for player.
- Enhanced copper effects.

This game is the 3rd and final installment, ProXima 1 and 2 games are planned in the future.

Tales of Gorluth II - Amiga Game

A good friend and talented Musician/Amiga game designer Patrick Nevian has just published his new Amiga game called "Tales of Gorluth II".

Some very nice pixel work here, in particular that red/yellow firebird creature on the right. Best of luck with game Patrick :)

Patreon Site - coming soon

I'm a big fan of the Amiga and have worked hard in contributing for our favourite computer over many years including back to the Amiga Inc days. My focus is either graphic design or game development.  The most recent published games are Dots Adventures and RESHOOT.

I would like to dedicate more of my spare time developing for the Amiga Platform, Classic and NG. We need as many developers as possible.

Once the site is open you will get a sneak peek into behind the scenes of project

- Access to source files (2d, 3d)
- PPaint Tips and tutorials
- Sketchblock Tips and tutorials
- Work in progress of game development
- Shelved projects (games - till we find a developer)
- Observations and suggestions of improving AmigaOS
- Other fun projects for Patreons only
- Developed concepts for Amiga Inc that got shelved
- Insight to who I'm also helping or have helped in the Amiga scene, past and current
- Open to other suggestions and projects

So for the cost of a cup of coffee I hope you will support me, more info coming soon :)

Hans 3D Survey - Game Development on AmigaOS

If your interested in 3D on the AmigaOS platform please take the time and fill in Hans de Ruiters Survey. Below is his message (from Amigans.net website) with links to survey and tutorials.

"I'd like to help people take advantage of the new graphics capabilities that Warp3D Nova provides. So far I've written a few tutorials on using Warp3D Nova directly

Now that the OpenGL ES 2 wrapper has been released, I'm wondering if there's interest in learning how to use that. I've created a short survey to get an idea of what people want. So, if you're interested in learning shader based graphics on AmigaOS, hop over to the survey and give your opinion: link"Hans
P.S., Feel free to share this elsewhere. The more responses the better.

The very early start of a new 3D level for an AmigaOS platform game and in future posts I will describe how the game works in more detail.  The game is a mixture of concepts including Marble Madness, Spindizzy, Mindcraft, and others.

Any suggestions of Game title always welcome?

It's always nice to be able to show some insight into the development of the game.  Below are some example animated sprites showing on the left the 3D rendered versions and the final game sprites (4 colours) on the right.

Below shows the palette used for the background and main enemy sprites (8 colours). Colours 5 to 8 are collision colours.

Tools Used:

- Brilliance II (Amiga)
- Photoshop (Mac)
Graphic Converter - (Mac)
(excellent converter for 24bit IFF files to then import into Brilliance II and save as Ham-8 files)

Game tested on a Mac using FS-UAE

A-MIGA Paint

A-MIGA Paint

Is a concept for AmigaOS machines.

A modern painting/animation software tool that blends all the nice features of our favourite paint programs on the Amiga (Deluxe Paint/Brilliance)

I've spend months on the project back in 2013.  These files sit on my harddrive and while I have always enjoyed contributing to other paint packages in recent times, I still crave good tools.

Current tools I use are:

PPaint 7.3 (68k)
Brilliance 2
Photoshop
Graphx2

Main Menu and Various tools

Zoomed export - custom Png Alpha menu

Tileable texture creation panel with zoom

Symmetry tool

Other designs not included in the post include:

- Complex gradient generators using images with colour limit settings
- Saving animated brushes with Sprite editor
- Lighting effects
- Animated gradients (think modern colour cycling)

...and much more... One can Dream :)

Other tools used in the past:

Opalpaint | TVpaint-AuraPaint | Gimp | ?

MIG n ZIGGY - Amiga Platform Game - 2015-2016 update

MIG n ZGGY update:

Project Concept has had a few small updates since the first post in May 2015.
Space level, Egypt and Ice Level started.

The example maps below are by no means completed.
This stage is testing how well or not the tiles work together.

"Alex Zirconstar and the Escape from planet Sina" - Amiga 68k game

"Alex Zirconstar and the Escape from planet Sina" - Amiga 68k game.

Some time ago last year (2015) I posted a teaser image, these are some concept images for different levels showing the 16 colour palette used.

Created in PPaint 68k and Photoshop.

Patrick Nevian deserves the credit for the excellent music tracks and game/level design.

The game will hopefully be released in the new month or so.

2016

2015 has been a very busy year The next few post will be a collection of what I have been working on and the focus for 2016.

Some information of other projects.

P.S. The above image was a bootscreen concept for the Amiga NG machines (elements of the design have been removed) but I have always liked the idea of a few boing balls bouncing.

Thankyou for viewing :)
